Lifeline Humanitarian Organization

Tidak ada komentar :
Since the onset of the civil war in the Republics of former Yugoslavia, Her Royal Highness Princess Katherine of Yugoslavia has received hundreds of requests for emergency assistance from doctors, hospitals, refugee centres, orphanages, schools and others caught up in or trying to assist those left vulnerable by the conflict and displacement.

Overwhelmed by the tragedy Princess Katherine brought together a committed team who incorporated the Lifeline Humanitarian Organization in 1993 as a registered UK Charity.

By identifying specific targets, by responding to individual needs and by delivering caring, sustained support to particular projects and institutions, Lifeline has made a significant contribution to relieving some of the suffering of the innocent victims of conflict. Lifeline offers direct aid to families and communities in the Balkan region without regard to nationality, ethnic origin or religion.

Over the last 7 years, Lifeline has sent convoys of food, clothes and medicines to schools and hospitals, provided swabs, needles and syringes to assist thousands of vaccinations, and helped with essential drugs to fight contagious diseases.

From the start Lifeline has relied on ECHO for the provision of appropriate and reliable medical supplies for the former Yugoslavia. In the last year ECHO has helped Lifeline to successfully sent 4 road convoys of vital supplies to Kosovo, as well as to Bosnia, Montenegro and Macedonia.

The people of the Balkan region face an enormous uphill struggle to rebuild their lives and shattered infrastructure. Lifeline is determined to continue helping those left most vulnerable by the tragedy of conflict, instability and continuing tension. Being able to count on ECHO’s expertise, knowledge and support alongside the medical supplies it offers is a great help in a situation such as this.
